Lasting Impacts Of Comet Shoemaker Levy 9
In July 1994, astronomers around the world watched as the fragments of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 slammed into the planet Jupiter.
This artist's impression shows a giant cloud of hydrogen streaming off a warm, Neptune-sized planet just 97 light-years from Earth. The exoplanet is tiny compared to its star, a red dwarf named GJ 3470.
This is the first image of a celestial object taken with the newly repaired Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS)
Researchers using a suite of telescopes including the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope have spotted a supermassive black hole blowing huge bubbles of hot, bright gas - one bubble is currently expanding outwards from the black hole
Hubble's view of the Carina Nebula shows star birth in a new level of detail
Nanoparticles cruising through blood vessels (illustrated) may distract immune cells from harming the brain after an injury, a study in mice suggests.
This illustration reveals the proposed structure of the gas and dust disc surrounding the nearby, young star TW Hydrae.
