A team of British and American astronomers used data from several telescopes on the ground and in space - among them the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.
The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has snapped a striking view of a multiple star system called XZ Tauri, its neighbour HL Tauri and several nearby young stellar objects.
This image from the Hubble Space Telescope shows for the first time the inner region of a 200-billion mile diameter dust disk around the star Beta Pictoris.
HE0435-1223, located in the centre of this wide-field image, is among the five best lensed quasars discovered to date. The foreground galaxy creates four almost evenly distributed images of the distant quasar around it.
The graphic shows the polar view of planet Gliese 436b around its host star. The long, comet-like tail resulting from the atmosphere getting ripped off it is shown as well.
